While nothing’s set in stone as yet, rumour has it Edge of Tomorrow/Into The Woods star Emily Blunt is the front-runner to headline Disney’s new Mary Poppins film.
Into The Woods director Rob Marshall will be handling the picture for Disney (so it’s no surprise he would pick someone from that cast), working from a David Magee (Life of Pi) script which draws on more of the original Poppins books, and will pick up with the Banks family 20 years after the events of the original film; when Mary returns during the Depression, to once again help the family.
It’s not clear as yet whether or not Blunt will take the role, as not only does she have an increasingly busy schedule, but she’s currently expecting her second child. Either way, she’ll next be seen in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, due to be released on April 8th in the UK, before making its official US release date on April 22nd.
