With the planned remake of classic western movie The Magnificent Seven moving ahead, and already starring Denzel Washington (last seen in The Equalizer), it now looks like a Training Day reunion; as not only is Antoine Fuqua directing, but Ethan Hawke has just joined the cast.
Due to co-star Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Hayley Bennett (The Equalizer), The Magnificent Seven will again see a small town come under threat from a ruthless gang and hire a blunt hunter (Denzel) to protect them; giving him enough money to hire six gunslingers along the way.
With both John Lee Hancock (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) contributing to the screenplay, once again adapted from Seven Samurai (the classic movie which served as the inspiration for the 1960 movie The Magnificent Seven), there’s a good deal of talent involved all round, but as of yet there’s still no official release date scheduled for The Magnificent Seven remake.
