Fast Five wouldn’t have been half the film it was it is wasn’t for the injection of the bald, sweaty, former-wrestler-turned-action-hero Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (the Faster star who really made Fast Five worth watching) opposite franchise regular Vin Diesel, and as a result it looks as if Fast Six may be attempting to replicate that success by adding another bald action hero, in the form of The Mechanic’s Jason Statham.
While it’s still just a rumour at this point, Statham is no stranger to starring in car-based action movies; having headlined The Transporter franchise for three films; and could prove to be a very exciting addition to director Justin Lin’s next Fast & Furious movie, and according to the rumour, possibly Fast Seven as well (which, again only according to rumour, Lin will shoot back-to-back with Fast Six).
It’s all unsubstantiated speculation (but interesting speculation at that), and simply comes by way of an “Unknown Source”, though Fast Six is definitely moving ahead (with or without The Stath), has already caused Justin Lin to bow out of The Terminator 5, and is due to be released sometime next year.
