Whilst it’s been making the way round the festival circuit for sometime now (since Toronto last September), most people still haven’t managed to have a look at Felony; the upcoming, highly intense, Australian crime drama/thriller starring Joel Edgerton; but you can now see the official Felony trailer below, and the first Felony poster on the right.
Edgerton (who’s roles have seen him take prominent positions in the brilliant Australian movie Animal Kingdom, and star as one of the leads in the excellent sports movie/family drama Warrior) headlines the cast of Felony as a well respected detective who, after celebrating his latest achievement, gets behind the the wheel of his car and accidentally knocks a young boy off his bike.
Mal (Edgerton) does report the incident, but neglects to tell anyone he was responsible for what happened to the lad, and once two detectives turn up (played by Batman Begins’ Tom Wilkinson, and A Good Day To Die Hard’s Jai Courtney) and not only realise what Mal has done, but promptly cover it up, all seems well; that is until the two detectives start butting heads over whether or not Mal should be punished, and Mal’s own conscience comes into play (affecting not only his family, but threatening to ruin the career of the detective who helped him steer clear of trouble that night).
Co-starring Melissa George (30 Days of Night) and Sarah Roberts (Neighbours), Felony was written by Joel Edgerton himself, has been directed by Matthew Saville (Noise), and is due to be released on August 28th in Australia, though as of yet there’s still no official word on either a US or UK release date (but given the calibre of the cast, the film’s potential, and festival buzz, it’s bound to make its way across the waves sooner or later).
