Fans of last year’s X-Men: First Class will be overjoyed to know that not only is the sequel to the film (which was actually a ‘60s-set prequel to Bryan Singer’s trilogy) moving ahead, but that original writer/director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) will be returning to the directors chair.
While it wasn’t as big a blockbuster as some of Marvel’s other 2011 releases, X-Men: First Class was extremely well received by its fans, won plenty of acclaim (it was even tipped as “possibly the best X-Men film so far” in our review), and will have its sequel written by First Class producer Simon Kinberg (before Vaughn and his oft-co-writer Jane Goldman take a likely look).
As of yet there’s no telling exactly when we will see the X-Men: First Class sequel actually hitting screens (particularly given how packed some its stars’ schedules have become since release), but we do know that Bryan Singer will once again producing, and that studio backers Fox are keen to get this one made.
