Sony Pictures have just released the first image from their upcoming reboot of the Spider-Man franchise; starring Andrew Garfield (Never Let Me Go) at the titular superhero, who gets bitten by a radioactive spider, develops several pretty awesome web-slinging abilities, and is then forced to face the fact that with great power, comes great responsibility.
Also appearing are Martin Sheen (The West Wing); as Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben (with Peter being Spidey’s everyday name); Sally Field (Mrs. Doubtfire); as his Aunt May; Emma Stone (Zombieland); as Pete’s first love Gwen Stacy (meaning his more famous girlfriend; Mary Jane; won’t be appearing); and Rhys Ifans (Mr Nice); as Doctor Curt Connors, the man who eventually turns into a crazed lizard/human-hybrid and clashes with your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Filming of the Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) directed remake began last month, and will be completed on a considerably smaller scale than the previous trilogy (but still released in 3D), and due to be released on July 3rd 2012 in the U.S., and the following day in the U.K.
