Remade from the famed 1984 film of the same name (which starred Hollow Man’s Kevin Bacon), the upcoming Footloose, has just had its first poster (which can be seen on the right, and clicked to be enlarged), and trailer (which can now be seen below) released online.
Starring newcomer Kenny Wormald as Ren McCormack, the new film moves the setting from the Midwest to the South, and a town where the local reverend (Dennis Quaid, Dragonheart) has banned public dancing (after a number of high-school kids were killed in a car accident on the way home from a dance); something which Ren, and the preacher’s own daughter (Julianne Hough, Dancing With the Stars) decide to rebel against.
Directed by Hustle & Flow’s Craig Brewer, Footloose seems to be yet another movie where dancing changes the lives of so many young people (though probably does it better than the Street Dance films; even if a bus chase and an explosion in the trailer is pushing things just a touch), and is due to be released on October 14th, in both the US and UK.
