As well as releasing a string of Star Wars updates last night, Disney dropped a child-friendly bombshell by officially announcing production of Frozen 2; the sequel to the 2013 smash hit (not the ski-lift horror movie).
John Lasseter (of Pixar, and now Disney Animation fame) confirmed the news at a shareholders meeting in San Francisco, and let the world know co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee would be returning to direct the second Frozen film (hoping to surpass a movie which has already earned the studio over $1.2 billion so far).
Though while no release date has been confirmed, we’d imagine Disney will be looking to churn out Frozen 2 fairly quick (making the most of the marketing potential and current hype surrounding the film); just as they’ve done with the upcoming short Frozen Fever; which brings audiences back to Arendelle for a new adventure with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, Sven, and even Wandering Oaken.
Anyone wishing to catch Frozen Fever on the big screen can do so at the end of the month, as it’s playing in front of Disney’s new live-action Cinderella (released on March 27th).
