MGM are currently developing an adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ bestselling novel Me Before You, scripted by Moyes (with re-working from The Fault In Our Stars writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber), and have just added a couple of names to the cast-list, chief among them being Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke.
Best known for playing the headstrong dragon-queen Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Clarke recently finished filming Terminator: Genisys (becoming the latest Sarah Connor; a role last occupied by her GoT co-star Lena Headey) , and joins Me Before You as a small-town girl name Lou, who becomes the carer of a suicidal man named Will (crippled, and wheelchair-bound, as the result of an accident), and together the pair experience a series of adventures designed to prove to Will that life really is worth living.
Sam Clafin (best known for his role as William in Snow White and the Huntsman) will co-star as Will, in the film which will be directed by relative unknown Thea Sharrock (who’s helmed episodes of The Hollow Crown, and Call the Midwife), and is due to be released on an as yet unannounced date sometime next year.
