While the second movie may have been a dire let-down in comparison to the first, we’ve still got two more films on the way to round out the cinematic adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games novels, and Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie has just been cast in the final film; The Hunger games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
Best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones (which began its fourth season – the trailer for which can be seen here – last night), Christie has now joined Mockingjay Part 2 (after a scheduling clash forced Lily Rabe to bow out), and will star as Commander Lyme; the leader leader of the District 2 rebels determined to take down the Capitol.
Due to be directed by Catching Fire’s Francis Lawrence, and once again staring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks, alongside newcomers Julianne Moore (Non-Stop) and Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones), the next movie will begin to focus much more on the rebellion against the oppressive Capitol that dominates The Hunger Games’ dystopian future, rather than the latest teen-deathmatch, and is due to be released on November 21st in both the US and UK.
