With both the BBC and star Idris Elba recently teasing the return of London detective Luther (who we recently learned will soon be getting his own US adaptation, produced in part by Elba), we now have a new casting announcement for the upcoming return; as Game Of Thrones star Rose Leslie is set to appear.
Other than the name of Leslie’s character (Emma Jones) there’s little known about Leslie’s appearance; if she’ll be on the right, or wrong, side of Luther himself. Though it is known Ruth Wilson (who starred as Alice Morgan) will not star, and so there maybe a certain sociopathic gap which needs could easily be filled by the likes of Leslie.
Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy) has also signed on to the two-part special which will pit Luther against his most deadly adversary to date, with executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff saying “[series creator] Neil Cross has pulled out all the stops to make this the biggest, scariest story.”
While an exact air date hasn’t yet been announced, Luther is set to return to BBC One this autumn.
