Following a US only (much to the disappointment of UK fans) IMAX screening of two season four episodes of HBO’s Game Of Thrones, we have the first full glimpse at season 5; thanks to a brand new Game Of Thrones Season 5 official trailer which can now be viewed in HD below, and is followed by a selection of images from the upcoming fifth season.
Anyone not up to date with the show probably shouldn’t watch, and although we’ll reveal no spoilers here the trailer does provide glimpses into what certain characters have been up to since the season break, where the turbulent episodes of the last season have landed us, and what things will look like when the show finally returns.
Set in the fantasy land of Westeros, Game Of Thrones is based on George R. R. Martin’s sprawling series of novels ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’ (and sadly George confirmed recently that the next book will not be released this year as planned, but has been delayed indefinitely), and charts the various political dealings, wars, plots, friendships, and backstabbings which all occur as key players attempt to secure influence and inch themselves closer to securing their place on the Iron Throne.
Quickly becoming one of the most watched shows in the world (an impressive feat for a show on a paid-service such as HBO), Game Of Thrones has earned widespread and continued critical acclaim since its debut, and looks set to continue its successful run when season 5 premieres on April 12th in the US (on HBO), and on April l13th in the UK (on Sky Atlantic).
