News regarding the planned action/fantasy movie The Last Witch Hunter had all but dried up, leaving many onlookers to think that it’d landed in development hell (or been shoved on a not-too-important back-burner at the very least), yet it appears as though Summit are still plodding ahead with the supernatural movie, and have just added a new name to the cast-list; none other than Game Of Thrones star Rose Leslie (better known as the feisty Wildling Ygritte).
Due to star Vin Diesel (Riddick), as a not-quite-immortal witch hunter who’s long-last quest to stop an evil witch from finding an ancient relic that’ll allow her to unleash a vile plague upon humanity sees him winding up in modern-day New York, The Last Witch Hunter is due to be directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies), and will see Leslie co-starring as a witch who decides to team-up with Diesel’s witch hunter.
While there’s no start date confirmed for The Last Witch Hunter as yet, it stands to reason that the pace should begin to pick up now the cast has started growing, and anyone looking to see Rose Leslie before then can do so in the upcoming horror movie Honeymoon (due to be screened on August 22nd at Film4 FrightFest, before receiving a limited released in the US on September 12th), or indie drama Sticky Notes; which is due to be released next year.
