After stepping down from the director’s job on The Hunger Games’ sequel (Catching Fire) Gary Ross has now entered into negotiations to helm a new movie based on the life of the infamous escape artist Harry Houdini.
Due to be based on the William Kalush and Larry Sloman book (The Secret Life of Houdini, The Making Of America’s First Superhero) which claims Houdini was an undercover agent working for a number of organisations (including both British Intelligence and the US Secret Service), the new film will cast the famed escape artist as a globe-trotting secret agent and explore little known (and often disputed) areas of his private life, when it eventually makes it to screen; something which could take sometime, given that Ross will likely want to re-work the script that’s already in place.
