Resting somewhere in between the chasm of sequel and reboot (neither fitting properly into one category or the other) the upcoming second movie in the Ghost Rider franchise; Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance; has recently had a teaser poster (which can be seen on the right) and a first trailer released online; which is now available to view below.
Nicolas Cage (Season of the Witch) reprises his role as the undead antihero Johnny Blaze, and comes out of his self-imposed exile in order to protect a mother and son who are being pursued by a strange man named Roarke (Johnny Whitworth, Limitless); who seems to know just a little bit too much about Ghost Rider, his flaming skull, and his identities throughout the centuries.
Co-starring Idirs Elba (The Wire), Cirian Hinds (Rome), Christopher Lambert (Highlander), and Violante Placido (The American), Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance promises to be much crazier and extreme than the first movie (it has been directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor; the guys behind Crank; after all), features a hero who literally pisses fire (watch the trailer if you don’t believe it!), and is due to be released on February 17th 2012 in the US, before making its way onto UK screens on February 22nd 2012.
