Last night saw the 74th annual Golden Globe Award Ceremony (held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) honouring many a 2016 film and TV show. La La Land clearly came out on top however, winning all seven of its nominations; including Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Song, Best Score, Best Director, Best Actor In A Musical or Comedy, and Best Actress In A Musical or Comedy.
The record-breaking La La Land managed to be the first film in the history of the Golden Globes to pick up so many awards at once, though there were a handful of statues handed out to other players; including Zootopia (known in the UK as Zootropolis) winning Best Animated Motion Picture, Casey Affleck getting the Best Actor In A Drama (for Manchester By The Sea), and Isabelle Huppert winning Best Actress In A Drama (for Elle).
The Night Manager scooped Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (for Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Coleman), while The Crown managed to topple Game Of Thrones and fan-favourite Westworld for the Best TV Drama, and Donald Glover nabbed a Best Actor award (Musical or Comedy) for his breakthrough series Atlanta (with the show itself winning best series in its respective category).
Below you’ll find a full list of 2017 Golden Globe winners.
As always, feel free to voice your thoughts on the winners (and nominees) in the comments section below (or with @GoodFilmGuide on Twitter), and let us know if you agree with the winners, think they’re horrible choices, are shocked your favourite film/TV show of the year wasn’t mentioned, or simply want to say who’s dress was the loveliest.
