We’ve yet to see the release of the first film yet (it’s due out this Thursday), but Marvel are obvious so confident in their next movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy that they’re happy to put a sequel into production, even before seeing how well (or poorly) the first film does at the Box Office; having already confirmed a director, and official release date, for Guardians Of The Galaxy 2.
Given the positivity surround the comics upon which the film is based, the positive reactions to the numerous clips, trailers, and posters, we’ve seen released so far, and the fact that many critics appear to be big fans of the film, it’s hardly surprising that Marvel would risk a second movie, as the star power, fun-factor, and cast-list are enough to presumably carry Guardians on to be a huge success this weekend, when stars Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Dave Bautista (of wrestling fame), Bradley Cooper (Limitless), and Vin Diesel (Riddick) join forces as a criminal, an assassin, a psychopath, and a racoon and his pet tree respectively, in order to literally guard the galaxy from some less than friendly types.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is due to be released on July 31st (this Thursday) in the UK, before making its official US release date on August 1st (Friday), and the sequel, currently known as Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, and also due to be directed by current Gauardians’ director James Gunn (Super), is due to be released in three years time, on July 28th 2017.
