It’s already been through a huge number of casting changes, and recently had it’s director (Contagion’s Steven Soderbergh) leave the production, but the big screen adaptation of the classic spy TV series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is still moving ahead, and has just landed a new director; Sherlock Holmes helmer, Guy Ritchie.
Scott Z Burns’ (Contagion) script is still the basis of the film, which follows a team of international spies combatting global terrorism, but there’s little else confirmed for the movie; as despite numerous rumours and actual castings, there still isn’t a single actor locked in to play either of the film’s leading men (spies Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin); and so it looks like it’ll still be some time before The Man From U.N.C.L.E. actually makes it into your local cineplex.
