While The Hangover Part II may have been just an even more vulgar, scene-for-scene, re-hash of the first movie, there’s no denying the fact that it was funny, drew enough people into the cinema to gross just under $600 million at the Box Office, and became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time; meaning it also shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that studio backers Warner Bros. are hoping to have a three-quel shooting this coming summer.
Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis are all deep in negotiations to reprise their roles as the party-loving amnesiacs Phil, Stu, and Alan respectively, for The Hangover 3 (all standing to make at least $15 million for their parts in continuing the franchise); which, if Warner’s schedule holds steady, will begin filming this summer, ahead of a planned release in May 2013.
Craig Mazin (who co-wrote The Hangover Part II) is currently working on the script for The Wolfpack’s next outing; which hopefully (if the wishes of both fans, director Todd Phillips, and the stars are adhered to) will change things up at bit, and not simply repeat the twice-used formula in a new location.
