Hanna: Trailer

Thanks to the recent release of the first official trailer (which can be seen below), buzz is now starting to build for Hanna; the Joe Wright (Atonement) directed movie that focusses on the life and trials of a 14-year-old girl who’s grown up in the Finnish wilderness, training since she was a child to become the perfect assassin.

Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones star who will soon be seen in The Way Back) stars as the titular teenager Hanna, and is joined by Eric Bana (The Time Traveler’s Wife); as her ex-C.I.A. father Erik; Cate Blanchett (Robin Hood); as a ruthless intelligence operative named Marissa Wiegler; and Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense); as a friendly, family-oriented, woman.

Showcasing the young girl’s upbringing and training (which appear to have been one and the same), the main film centers on Hanna’s father leaving her to enter the world alone, and complete a deadly mission that will teach her more than she ever imagined about her background, have her being pursued across Europe by Blanchett and the intelligence community, and eventually trying to settle into a normal life.

It’s certainly an intriguing concept (even if the twist already seems to have given itself away), and has already begun to draw parallels with the Bourne films (as it they too focus on an assassin attempting to get back at an intelligence firm), and Kick-Ass (because that too features a young girl who’s been raised to be an expert killer), and should be one to look out for when it makes its way onto cinemas screens on April 8th.
