While the movie title Heat is now best associated with the brilliant Michael Mann directed crime epic, back in 1986 Burt Reynolds starred in the similarly titled drama Heat; which is now due to be remade by Scarface director Brian DePalma, with action-hero, and Expendables star, Jason Statham taking the lead role.
Statham will head the cast as a recovering gambling addict who provides protection to other gamblers, though he refuses to use a gun, and plays his bodyguard role with only the use of his fists and a few knives, and soon swears to reap vengeance for a friend who’s savagely beaten by a dastardly mobster.
Adapted from the 1985 novel of the same name (published in the UK as Edged Weapons) Heat was originally scripted by the original author William Goldman, who’s now returning to script the upcoming remake, and update it for more modern times; crafting yet another remake for Statham to head (following Death Race, and The Mechanic).
