While we’ve known for sometime that it was growing less and less likely to happen, and even reported that while director Guillermo Del Toro “would love to” make a third Hellboy movie, numerous things were getting in the way, it now appears as if it’s finally off the table, and extremely unlikely to ever make a comeback.
Hellboy writer Mike Mignola himself recently confirmed that he wasn’t surprised when Guillermo himself had said “I’m never gonna get back to Hellboy”; possibly because Guillermo has already stated in a number of interviews how the third film would have to ‘end’ the Hellboy story (and while he said he “knows how it ends”, he didn’t know “if he wanted to see that ending”), and that Hellboy himself; Ron Perlman; was having things too easy on Sons of Anarchy (being “spoiled” by not having to wear make-up for the show), to have the urge to jump back into the red.
