Clearly one of Hollywood’s men of the moment; recently seen in The Tudors, and Immortals, and soon to be seen in both The Cold Light of Day, and Man of Steel (where he will be the new Superman); Henry Cavill has recently entered talks to star in The Great Wall.
Coming from Love And Other Drugs director Ed Zwick, and co-writer Marshall Herskovitz (The Last Samurai), The Great Wall will examine the mystery of how China’s greatest monument (The Great Wall of China) managed to be built over numerous years, despite different rulers becoming head of the empire, and overseeing construction.
No clear plot details have been released as yet (though given the subject matter it’s likely The Great Wall will follow a Pillars of the Earth style format; and would possibly make for a brilliant mini-series; given the numerous times the wall has been destroyed, rebuilt and extended) so it’s not known as yet what role Cavill will be portraying, or when The Great Wall will get a confirmed release date.
