From fending off a zombie apocalypse in Zombieland, to creating Facebook in The Social Network, Jesse Eisenberg’s next movie; Holy Rollers; sees him transform from a heavily conservative and devout, orthodox Jew, into a hard-hitting drug dealer with connections to an Israeli cartel; as seen in the new trailer (below).
Holy Rollers marks the directorial debut of Kevin Asch, and is based on the true story of a number of Hasidic Jews who were used as drug mules to smuggle ecstasy from Europe to the US, and follows Sam Gold (Eisenberg) as he makes the transition from his orthodox background into the criminal fraternity, via a friend named Yosef (played by The Hangover’s Justin Bartha) and the attractive girlfriend of an Israeli dealer (played by Fringe’s Ari Graynor).
Holy Rollers was shot back in 2009, made its Sundance debut last year, and then received a limited release in the US, but is now finally coming over to the UK, to be released on May 13th.
