Hot off the release of his latest CG animated movie, Mars Needs Moms, Robert Zemeckis (best known for having written and directed Back to the Future) is now attached to another children’s tale; How to Survive a Garden Gnome attack.
Currently attached only as a producer, Zemeckis’ company Imagemovers is hoping to partner with Sony on the movie which they are currently in the process of optioning, and will be adapted from the Chuck Sambuchino book of the same name; reading as a “comprehensive survival guide” designed to help people fend off attacks from garden gnomes, who we now know aren’t simply nice lawn decoration but “poised and ready to wreck havoc.”
As the optioning of the film still hasn’t been finalized, there’s no release date set, and as of yet there’s still no director, or screenwriter attached, meaning it could be sometime before we see How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack hit the cinema; but as it’s got the potential to play out like a mix between Gnomeo and Juilet, Toy Story, Small Soldiers, and Zombieland, this could really be one to watch.
