House is over, and even though Hugh Laurie’s now ditched the cane and limp, he’s not in a rush to run back to Blighty and make another Blackadder special (no matter how desperate the fans are to see it), and has actually entered talks to join the upcoming Robocop reboot as the film’s corporate villain.
Due to star Joel Kinnaman (Safe House) as the titular cyborg Robocop (after starting the film as policeman Alex Murphy, and promptly getting himself murdered), Robocop will co-star Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) as Robocop’s creator, Abbie Cornish (Limitless) as Murphy’s grieving widow, and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) as a charismatic TV personality, and could place Laurie as the head of the corporation that creates Robocop in order to improve their public image, and boost profits (known as OCP in the original film).
Josh Zetumer’s recently taken a crack at the script which has come from James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), and will eventually be directed by Elite Squad’s Jose Padilha, when Robocop starts shooting this coming August in Toronto, ahead of an August 2013 release date.
