Ice Cube Plans Another Friday

Opening back in 1995 the first film in the Friday franchise featured plenty of smoking pot and talking gibberish (as any decent stoner comedy should), was followed five years later by watching Ice Cube (Boyz N Tha Hood) and Mike Epps (The Hangover) mix it up with their Latino gangster neighbours in Next Friday, again with the pair appearing as mall cops in Friday After Next, and now, almost a decade since the release of Next Friday, Ice Cube is looking to revive the franchise with a new Friday movie.

Former NWA star Ice Cube (who’s heavily involved with the upcoming NWA biopic) will once again be writing and directing the latest sequel, which may see him taking on the director’s role for the first time in the series, and could also welcome back Chris Tucker (Rush Hour); who’s character Smokey hasn’t been seen since the first film, as he sat out both Next Friday and Friday After Next because of religious and anti-drugs reasoning, but could have his reservations addressed for the next movie.
