With the imminent arrival of the Indiana Jones movies onto Blu-ray, US film-fans are soon to be treated with an impressive IMAX re-release of Raiders Of The Lost Ark (now dubbed Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark); the new poster for which has just been released online, and is now available to view below.
Re-mastered from its original print, the 31 year old movie has now been painstakingly restored and enhanced to the IMAX format (bringing it up to full IMAX resolution), and had its sound totally upgraded; director Steven Spielberg said “they take the stems that we gave them, and they put them through their 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, and it’s a totally uncompressed experience… You kind of feel the sound in your chest, like when the boulder is rolling, chasing Indy through the cave. You really feel the boulder in your stomach, the way you do when a marching band passes by and you’re standing right next to it.”
Running for a one week only special, between September 7th and 13th, in the US, there’s no confirmed IMAX re-release for Raiders Of The Lost Ark in the UK, though fans can catch Harrison Ford in one of his best ever roles, when the Indiana Jones Blu-ray boxset is released on September 18th in the US, and on October 8th in the UK.
