Whilst the name Stephen Dorff doesn’t exactly have the same comedy associations as say Kevin Smith (Clerks), Ben Stiller (Little Fockers), or Adam Sandler (Big Daddy); possibly thanks to him appearing as the bad guy in Blade, a bank robber in Public Enemies, and a guest of a violent state prison in Felon; but he’s recently been talking up a comedy idea he has in the works.
Dorff is keen to attempt both writing and producing movies alongside his acting career; and has said that although he “loves acting, number one”, he wants to “get more into producing, and make some more films”; beginning with a comedy idea he’s keen to produce, and has successfully sold to Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison.
Whilst “we’re not in script form yet” Dorff has written a treatment, and plans to “turn that into a script” as soon as he “gets a break from working”, and has stated that he “wants to do it with Jack Nicholson [One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest]”, as the two are “good friends”.
However Nicholson is yet to agree to commit, no plot details have been released, and until the contracts have been signed, a director is locked in, and filming is set, there’s next to nothing guaranteed; although Stephen’s already planning how the negotiations will go, saying that he’ll “get Sony to give Jack his $15 million” and then they can “go make the movie, because Jack likes money just the way I like money too.”
