A true cinema legend, Jackie Chan has a career spanning five decades, over 200 films under his belt, and is a true household name, but he’s never won an Academy Award, until now – as the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences has just granted Chan a lifetime achievement award at the annual Governor’s Ball.

Tom Hanks also noted how the Academy often overlooks the type of films Jackie Chan is known for – martial arts and action/comedies – and touched on a number of reasons why Jackie Chan is so well known, so well liked, and has had such a successful career during his 56 years in the film industry.
The 89th Academy Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars, will take place on 26 February 2017.
