Jennifer Lawrence Leaving X-Men After Apocalypse

While things could still change before the next film starts shooting, Jennifer Lawrence recently told MTV she considers the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse to be her final X-Men movie, stating “it’s my last one actually.” A turn which shouldn’t be wholly surprising, as the starlet’s contract runs out next year, and there’s an ever-increasing stream of opportunities for the Hunger Games’ star to progress elsewhere in Hollywood.

Jen’s potential departure, as well as that of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (unconfirmed, but their contracts also expire at the same time, and both leads are currently in high demand), does open the door for the new stars of Apocalypse; Game Of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, The Road’s Kodi Smitt-McPhee, Mud’s Tye Sheridan, and upcoming Straight Outta Compton star Alexandra Shipp (who play young versions of Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and Storm respectively); to branch out and become the stars of the series going forward.

With Hugh Jackman, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, and Ian McKellen also preprising their X-Men roles and rumoured appearance by Channing Tatum (22 jump Street) as Gambit, X-Men: Apocalypse has once again been directed by Bryan Singer, will co-star Oscar Isaac (Ex_Machina) as the villanous Apocalypse, and is due to be released on May19th in the UK, before making its official US release date on may 27th.
