While the true story of the rise of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons continues to be a huge musical hit on the stage worldwide, Warner Bros. are no longer convinced the tale will make a perfect transition to the big screen, and have just dropped the planned Jersey Boys film.
Scripted by John Logan (Skyfall), and due to be directed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau, Jersey Boys would have followed the rise of the Four Seasons through some of their biggest hits, but apparently doesn’t have the international appeal Warners need to move ahead.
Yet, while Jersey Boys maybe dead in the water for the moment, meetings are currently taking place with bosses at both 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures (to see if one of the studios fancies picking up the film), and with an apparently solid script, proven director, and shooting schedule already in place (with filming originally planned for January, ahead of a Christmas 2013 release date), there’s hope for the Jersey Boys yet.
