With news breaking recently Whiplash star J.K. Simmons had joined the cast, John Goodman has now become the latest actor to add his name to the upcoming Boston Marathon bombing thriller Patriots Day.
Due to be directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), and star Mark Wahlberg (Ted 2) as an amalgamation of several real-life Boston P.D. officers, Patriots Day will focus on the events of the Boston Marathon bombing back in 2013, and the resulting manhunt which followed and saw suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev brought to justice.
Goodman (The Big Lebowski star who’s new film 10 Cloverfield Lane opens on Friday) will be starring as Ed Davis; Police Commissioner at the time, and a man who co-ordinated with various local, state, and national authorities in order to ensure the apprehension of the suspects; while Simmons will star as Sergeant Keffrey Puglies (who eventually fought the suspects), in the Matt Charman (Bridge Of Spies) written film which has no official release date as yet.
