Currently seen causing grief for his onscreen son in the excellent TV drama Ray Donovan, Jon Voight has just signed on to appear in the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
Scripted by Harry Potter creator and novelist J.K. Rowling (from her original short story), the tale will take place years before Harry and co. ever entered the wizarding school of Hogwarts, and will follow a character named Newt (played by Jupiter Ascending star Eddie Redmayne), as he attempts to document the various creatures inhabiting the wizards’ world.
Shooting is already underway on the film, and already boasts a cast which includes the likes of Colin Farrell (Seven Psychopaths), Dan Fogler (Kung Fu Panda), Ezra Miller (We Need To Talk About Kevin), and Samantha Morton (John Carter), and while we don’t know yet who Jon Voight will be playing, we do know Harry Potter veteran David Yates is behind the camera, and is aiming for a release date of November 18 next year (2016).
