Adapted from the 2000 AD comics, the upcoming Judge Dredd movie; about one of the futuristic lawmen who combine the roles of Judge, Jury, and Executioner, into one, easy-to-spot, large-helmeted, package; places Karl Urban (Star Trek) in the titular role once occupied by Sylvester Stallone, and has just had a new image released online, and its official release date announced (both of which can now be found below).
The new movie (simply titled Dredd) will see Dredd and a new Judge recruit named Anderson (who’ll be portrayed by Juno’s Olivia Thirlby) trapped in one of Mega City One’s worst blocks, as a block-war rages, a siege breaks out, and they’re forced to try and survive.
Dredd’s being directed by Vantage Point’s Pete Travis; from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later); also stars Lena Heady (Game of Thrones), Langley Kirkwood (Invictus),and Domhnall Gleeson (True Grit), and is due to be released (in 3D), on September 21st 2012 in the US, and on an as yet unconfirmed date in the UK.
