Everyone remembers Carrie; Brian De Palma’s excellent teen-horror, based on the classic Stephen King novel; but soon Carrie will be getting the remake treatment, and will see Hannibal star Julianne Moore taking on the role of Carrie’s mother Margaret.
Speaking recently Chloe Moretz; the Let Me In star who’s due to take on the role of the troubled teen with telekinetic powers and a penchant for violence; stated that the upcoming remake will not only be very dark and psychological, but delve further into the relationship between Carrie and her overly zealous mother; a woman who not only spends her days preaching door-to-door, but locks Carrie in a cupboard and forces her to pray for the forgiveness of her sins when she gets her first period.
Due to be directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry), and co-star The Three Musketeer’s Gabriella Wilde (as a fellow student who taunts Carrie, but eventually realizes what she’s doing is wrong), Carrie will start filming next month, ahead of a US release date of March 15th 2013 (and a UK release presumably on a fairly similar date).
