After the undeniably huge success of last year’s Jurassic World, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the inevitable sequel. Now we know who’ll be helming the follow-up, as Juan Antonio Bayona will direct Jurassic World 2.
While we’d expect that title to change somewhat before release, the announcement is a positive (though not wholly surprising, as his name has been unofficially linked with the project for quite sometime) one; which came from Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow (sitting this one out due to scheduling conflicts – as he’s busy helming Star Wars: Episode IX) and producer Frank Marshall.
Trevorrow has still had a hand in the new script, which The Impossible director (Bayona) will aim to realise when Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt return, as well as expanding the scope of the action away from Isla Nubar (the island where Jurassic Park was set).
Jurassic World 2 is due to be released on June 8th 2018.
