We already know Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones’ Khal Drogo, and the most recent Conan the Barbarian) is set to play DC’s Aquaman , and will likely make his debut in the Justice League movie, but have just learned that Dredd himself, Karl Urban, is also up for an unspecified role in the planned standalone Auqaman movie.
Still a rumour at this point (as is the case with basically all Aquaman news), it’s not clear exactly who Urban would play, although he’d likely crop up as a villain and end up head-to-head with Momoa’s aquatic hero when Warner Bros’ world-building epic (with its, predicted-to-be, huge budget) eventually touches down.
There’s also been talk of several script treatments/drafts (coming from both Gangster Squad’s Will Beall, and 300: Rise Of An Empire writer Kurt Johnstead), and a shortlist of potential directors which includes the likes of 300: Rise Of An Empire helmer Noam Murro, and Mud’s Jeff Nichols, for the film which is currently slated for release in 2018.
