We haven’t even seen the upcoming remake of Van Damme’s seminal Kickboxer yet, but production companies Headmon Entertainment and Acme Rocket Fuel obviously have faith in it, as they’ve already confirmed a sequel for their upcoming Kickboxer Vengeance.
Stuntman Alain Moussi will be playing Kurt Sloane (taking over Van Damme’s role) in the remake which has been directed by John Stockwell (Into The Blue), and will once again see a kickboxer training to avenge the maiming of his brother at the hands of fierce fighter Tong Po.
Dave Bautista (the Guardians of the Galaxy star and former wrestler last seen in Spectre) will be playing Tong Po, and seen on screen with both Gina Carano (Haywire) and Jean-Claude Van Damme himself – this time taking on the role of trainer Master Chow.
The sequel already has a title; Kickboxer Retaliation; will see Moussi return, and has producer/screenwriter Dimitri Logothetis slated to step into the director’s chair when filming begins sometime next year, ahead of a 2017 release.
Kickboxer Vengeance is currently in post-production, and will be released on an as yet unannounced date next year.
