Yes, you read that title correctly… a full 26 years after the release of the beloved Kindergarten Cop, we’re getting a sequel. Sadly Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be returning as tough-nut/big softie John Kimble, and the job of going under cover as a kindergarten teacher will instead fall to another ’80s action hero – enter Dolph Lundgren.
Like much of Lundgren’s recent work (War Pigs, Skin Trade, etc.), Kindergarten Cop 2 will be making its way straight to DVD, and will not be a direct sequel to the classic Arnie film, but merely borrow the formula; sending a tough-nut FBI agent on his toughest assignment, dealing with a class full of unruly six-year-olds.
Due to hit US shelves on May 17th, there’s sadly no UK release date as yet. Still, we’d expect this one to be picked up soon enough by a UK distributor (the name, and star, alone should sell surely?), or at the very least hit Netflix within a couple of months of the US release.
