Gone are the days of Dean Cain’s weekly capescapades, now the Man of Steel’s place is resting firmly on the big screen (or ‘appearing’ in a completely obscured and non-essential fashion on Supergirl), yet his extended universe is still ripe for small screen action according to Syfy; as the network has just ordered a pilot episode for a Superman prequel show called Krypton.
Scripted by prolific comic-book-to-screen writer/producer David S. Goyer (Blade, Batman Begins, Man of Steel), the new show will, according to the official synopsis, follow “The Man Of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”
Goyer will serve as the shows Executive Producer, alongside Executive Producer and showrunner Damian Kindler (known for his work on Sleepy Hollow), and the pilot; which will likely share a tone and imagery with the opening sequences of Man of Steel; will be directed by Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders).
