In a time where everything gets broken down to its basic dollar-value, and studios are being extremely mindful of their budgets, it should come as little surprise that the found-footage horror movie The Last Exorcism (which grossed $62.5 million at the worldwide Box Office from a mere $1.6 million budget and was highly praised in the genre) now has a sequel in the works.
There’s still no word on exactly what form the eventual plot of The Last Exorcism 2 will take (though it’d be a good bet it’d involve a rather disturbing exorcism), or when it can be expected, though we do know it’s being written by newcomer Damien Chazelle, and, given the small-budget nature and style of the first film, can likely be expected as soon as next year, or certainly by 2013.
