The Wachowskis’ first foray into original science fiction since The Matrix Trilogy, Jupiter Ascending (written, produced, and directed by The Wachowski’s) looks to be visually stunning at the very least, and it’s not hard to see why this sci-fi outing has already been delayed, give the amount of CGI world-building needed to successfully realise the Wachowski’s vision; as seen in the latest Jupiter Ascending trailer, now available to view below.
Starring Mila Kunis (Ted) as a young woman who earns a living cleaning houses before she’s rescued by the hunky enigmatic spaceman called Caine (Channing Tatum, 22 Jump Street) arrives and informs her she’s actually royalty; and not just any old member of the royal family; she’s the galactic heroine who’s due to inherit the Earth, but will first come under fire from a number of nefarious space dwellers who’ve got other ideas for our fair planet (and solar system as a whole), and aren’t looking to share power.
With Eddie Redmayne (The Black Death) starring as the film’s big bad, and further cast members including the likes of Sean Bean (death-prone star of Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and Goldeneye, currently headlining Sky1’s Legends), Douglas Booth (Noah), Terry Gilliam (Monty Python star/Twelve Monkeys director), and Tuppence Middleton (Cleanskin), Jupiter Ascending is due to be released on February 6th 2015 in both the US and UK.
