The latest trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes; the upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel movie (which was previously running under the simpler title, Rise of the Apes); provides a great deal more background than any we’ve seen before, showcases the relationship developed between the super-ape Caesar and his scientist owner Will (James Franco, 127 Hours), has just been released online, and is now available to view below.
Set in a near future San Francisco where Will believes he’s developed a cure for his father’s (John Lithgow, Dexter) Alzheimer’s, the Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) directed film also co-stars Frieda Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Brian Cox (Manhunter), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and Andery Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), as Caesar; the exceedingly clever ape who leads the rebellion against his human oppressors.
The new trailer also shows a great deal more of the fantastic effects work conducted by Weta Digital, provides a much greater sense of scale, and suggests that Rise of the Planet of the Apes could be up amongst the best films of the summer, when it’s released in the US on August 5th, and makes its UK release date on August 12th.
