Having both just appeared on screen together in the nostalgic, old-school, action movie The Expendables 2, Jan-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren will soon be teaming up once again to revisit one of their old franchises, and release a new Universal Soldier movie; Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, the new poster for which has just been released online, and is now available to view below.
While the poster clearly plays up the return of its action-legend poster-boys, the movie’s official synopsis suggests it’ll be Scott Adkins (who also had a role in The Expendables 2) that will be the main focus of the film; as he awakes from a coma to find his family slaughtered, and head off on a vengeful rampage targeting the apparently guilty Luc Deveraux (Van Damme).
Things get even more complicated when Adkins’ John finds another super-UniSol (the last film’s Andre “Pitbull” Arlovski) hot on his tail, and has to contend with a rogue army led by Andrew Scott (Lundgren); who’s popping up yet again, despite previously having had a nasty run in with some farm machinery, and landing a shotgun blast to the head.
Being the first film in the series to have been filmed in 3D, Day of Reckoning has been directed by returning director John Hyams, and is due to receive a theatrical release in the US on November 30th, but will likely take the straight-to-DVD route in the UK (on an as yet unannounced date), if Universal Soldier: Regeneration is anything to go by.
