After exiting crime show C.S.I., Laurence Fishburne will soon be returning to the world of television for the upcoming TV show based on the infamous, famed, iconic, and timeless fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter, in the imaginatively titled Hannibal, for NBC.
Whilst he won’t be playing the titular murderer, with a penchant for human flesh, Fishburne will instead be appearing as the head of the FBI’s Behavioural Sciences Unit, Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn’s role in Silence of the Lambs), and tasked with tracking down the cannibal; who’ll be played by Mads Mikkelsen (the Casino Royale star who turned down a prominent villain role in Thor: The Dark World, in order to appear in the show).
Charting how Crawford introduces Will Graham (Hugh Dancy, Black Hawk Down) to the psychiatrist who, despite agreeing to help with the case, turns out to be the perpetrator, Hannibal will initially run with a 13 episode first season; which is being scheduled to air sometime early next year in the US.
