Chronicling the high-flying, self-indulgent, living of a New York stock broker in the 1990s, Jordan Belfort’s memoir The Wolf of Wall Street traced the broker’s rise and high-times, as well as his eventual fall from grace and incarceration, and although the rights to its big-screen adaptation have been around for quite sometime, it now looks as if we may actually get to see it; as Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are now heartedly trying to lock down deals to begin filming later this year.
Having already worked together on a number of high-profile projects; including Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and Shutter Island; Scorsese and DiCaprio don’t have distribution secured just yet, but given the sheer talent and Box Office draw of both, as well as that gained from a script by Boardwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter, it shouldn’t be too long before we get an official release date for The Wolf of Wall Street; especially seen as how they’re looking to begin shooting this coming August.
