Former Xena: Warrior Princess stars Lucy Lawless (Xena herself) and Bruce Campbell will soon be reuniting, and joining former crew members Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert (who also happens to be Lucy’s husband), in Ash Vs. Evil Dead; the planned small screen continuation of Raimi’s infamous horror classic Evil Dead.
Campbell will of course reprise his role as the titular hero, and iconic horror staple that is Ash; bringing the ancient battle between The Chin and The Deadites to TV; where Lucy Lawless will appear as Ruby, a woman obsessed with tracking down the source of the Deadites, and convinced it’s all Ash’s fault.
Raimi wrote the pilot script (with his brother Ivan) and is also set to direct the first episode of the series, which will see Ash spurred back into action by a plague of Deadite swarms which threaten to destroy all mankind (not what a man who’s spent 30 years trying to escape said horrors wants to see), and return Lawless to the network which placed her in Spartacus.
Due to air on Starz (in the US, no UK network has been confirmed thus far), the first season of Ash Vs. Evil Dead will consist of 10 half-hour long episodes, and is due to debut later this year.
