Luke Evans Cast As The Crow

Luke EvansHaving been trapped firmly in development hell for a number of years, it appears as though Relativity Media are finally pressing ahead with their planned remake of The Crow, and have recently cast Luke Evans in the title role.

Due to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez (Before The Fall), The Crow will see Evans (who can now been seen in Fast & Furious 6) taking on the role of Eric Draven; a love-struck rocker who returns from beyond the grave to seek vengeance for the violent murders of both himself and his beloved fiancee; and the film has even had its start date moved to accommodate the actor, as he’s apparently been topping the wishlist for the part for quite sometime.

Whilst a number of scripts, directors, and actors have been attached/approached/rumoured in recent years (including directors such as Blade’s Stephen Norrington and 28 Weeks Later’s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and actors such as Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper, James McAvoy, and Alexander Skarsgârd) Evans is now pleased to have landed the remake of a movie which he describes as “a very poignant film from my childhood which I remember vividly” and says that while “we’re re-imagining it to a certain extent, the story and the plot will be mostly the same” when shooting gets underway early next year.
