M. Night Shyamalan’s Next Movie

M. Night Shyamalan is the man best known from bringing such strange yet compellingly interesting and original stories, as The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs, to cinemas;but has been on a bit of a downturn with his past few original creations; The Village was a massive critical disappointment, hardly anyone even heard of Lady in the Water, and the less said about The Happening the better; but now that he has finished working on The Last Airbender, has another new project to sell to the Hollywood big-wigs.

But this being M. Night Shyamalan, there’s not much to tell in terms of plot lines as yet, because he’s purposefully being as secretive as ever; even the high-flying studio executives who have been granted a look at the script have had to agree to his terms of having one of his personal assistants deliver the script, supervise the reading, and then immediately transport it back to Shyamalan H.Q.; with even the major studios executives being forbidden from spilling a word.

However, whilst the script may remain a mystery to all but M. Night himself (although it’d be a safe bet to assume that it would have a supernatural element, and a pretty unexpected twist revealed at the end), and the very limited number of people who have been gifted with a reading, there’s no denying that he still carries some weight in Hollywood, as it’s already causing quite a stir, and has attracted the talents of Bruce Willis (who has previously worked with Shyamalan on The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable), Gwyneth Paltrow (most recently seen in Iron Man 2), and Bradley Cooper (The Hangover).

Obviously as he’s still trying to sell the script, Shyamalan’s movie doesn’t have an official start date, location, or much of anything else besides some mysterious words on a page and some loosely attached acting talent, and nobody really knows whether or not he can reclaim the heights he reached with the likes of the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, but for anyone waiting, they can always go and catch The Last Airbender in the meantime, as it opens in British cinemas on August 13th.
